Message from the Parish Priest
The Parish of St Mary, Mother of God presents this site to you as a means of really getting to know about our Parish Family here in Ponders End, Enfield. For newcomers, it is a way of offering a welcome. For our 'regulars', it is intended as a source of information. For those we rarely have contact with, it comes with the hope that it might move them to become more involved with the active life of our Parish Community. It would be wonderful if we could all work together to build a friendly, loving community with the Lord at the heart of it. This, of course, is an on-going process and requires the openness and hardworking collaboration of everyone concerned.
Revd. Fr. John Shewring

OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY EVENT ON 7 OCTOBER
October marks the month when we think of Mary, the Mother of Jesus in a very special way. It is the month of the Most Holy Rosary and we remember that she has asked us on so many occasions to say the Rosary as often as we can so as to obtain all the wonderful graces she wants to give us. At Fatima she asked us to pray the Rosary so as to make amends for the sin of the world which hurts her Sons Most Sacred Heart so much.
To commemorate the wonderful celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary after 7.30pm Mass there was a Torchlight Procession from the church along Alexandra Road...

CHIKA ON WORLD YOUTH DAY
I recently spent two weeks as the parish's representative at World Youth day in Krakow, Poland.
When I was asked to go to Poland for World Youth day, I had no idea what to expect from it, so I went with an open mind and heart. The first week was spent in Lodz, with a Catholic community called the Chemin Neuf. This time spent with them was centred around reconciliation and mercy, as well as the works of St Pope John Paul II and St Faustina, whose apparitions of Jesus Christ gave us the devotions to the Divine Mercy. CEDRIC'S TRIP TO TANZANIA
Our journey started here in England, when we all met at St Ignatius College in Enfield after 6 months of preparation and fundraising. We each had to contribute £1000 to the general fund from our fundraising which took care of all expenses, donations, equipment, etc. to our projects in Tanzania, which we all managed to do... and saying our goodbyes to our families before we departed for Gatwick Read More... or

PROCLAIM 15 - OUR PARISH ACTIVITIES
New Parish Groups
The parish is calling on parishioners to consider joining the following newly formed(revived) societies in our Church:
1. Legion of Mary Society
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide association of Catholics who have formed themselves into a body to be of service to the church. Mary the Immaculate is the model and through her its members seek to present Christ to everyone.
The objective is the spiritual formation of all confirmed members of the church through prayer and the lay apostolic work to realize their vocation to holiness.
Our parish Praesidium (this is what a parish Legion of Mary group is known as) is called Our Lady Seat of Wisdom. We meet each Sunday at 4pm in the Parish Hall. You are most welcome to join us.
The legion holds a weekly meeting, which begins with the invocation of the Holy Spirit followed by the recitation of the Rosary, spiritual readings, talks and a discussion...

The Society is a lay organisation initially formed in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam and his companions, and active in England & Wales since 1844. Placed under the Patronage of St Vincent de Paul, it is inspired by his thinking and works. It seeks, in the spirit of justice and charity, to help those who are suffering poverty in whatever form.

Holy Father's Intentions for OCT. 2016
This month, Pope Francis will be praying for the elderly, as well as young people just starting off in their vocations.
The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for June.
The Holy Father’s universal prayer intention for June is: “That the aged, marginalised, and those who have no-one may find, even within the huge cities of the world, opportunities for encounter and solidarity.”
His intention for evangelisation is: “That seminarians and men and women entering religious life may have mentors who live the joy of the Gospel and prepare them wisely for their mission.”
